Background

Dr. Parlor looks forward to working with select patients in individual psychotherapy to meet their wellness goals. Dr. Parlor has often found that a bit of orientation is useful in initial contact between providers and patients and ultimately benefits treatment progress and outcomes. With this in mind, Embracing Alchemy engages prospective patients in a complimentary Pre-screening where patients can understand what Embracing Alchemy can offer to them specifically and Dr. Parlor can understand how best to serve each individual’s needs.

In addition to the pre-screening, Embracing Alchemy offers a Psychoeducation and Consultation individual session that heavily integrates principles of supportive therapy. This session can offer those new to therapy or hesitant to seek mental health and wellness services an opportunity to engage in the patient/provider dynamic as they explore options for psychological services. Psychoeducation and Consultation may include the use of brief screenings and inventories to assess mood and severity of symptoms. Patients may receive referrals to additional providers to best address treatment needs.

Embracing Alchemy offers therapeutic support sessions with licensed and supervised clinicians for those having completed treatment to manage anxiety disorders, specifically, Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and social anxiety presentations. Dr. Parlor has a particular affinity for those experiencing anxiety and has extensive training as a member of Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) working with patients to improve severe anxiety symptoms. Dr. Parlor can appreciate the benefits of homework and rehearsal of skills to promote ongoing management of symptoms. Pre-screening and/or Psychoeducation and Consultation session required prior to scheduling therapeutic support session; up to 3 participants per session.

Embracing Alchemy can appreciate many of the challenges of seeking and coordinating mental health and wellness services, especially while experiencing disruptive and impairing symptoms. Dr. Parlor worked as a case manager and rehabilitative specialist for about 10 years before returning to school to pursue her doctorate and fondly reflects on the days spent assisting acute patients with linkage to services and community resources. Dr. Parlor can appreciate the strong desire to include case management activities in psychotherapy sessions as patients often continue to experience negative outcomes due to acute or ongoing linkage needs. Embracing Alchemy offers patients clinical support in acknowledging select linkage needs as therapeutic activities. These sessions will be approved to address select clinical needs and can also be used as an opportunity to meet with a patient’s other care providers to optimize treatment planning and outcomes.

Embracing Alchemy encourages a commitment to a minimum of 8 sessions and offers an opportunity for secure virtual telehealth session as treatment progresses and/or allows. Referral and/or coordination with psychopharmacology provider to optimize treatment outcomes.
